The delivery of the $187.5 million Spoilbank Marina project will create a vibrant new amenity for the Port Hedland community and visitors to enjoy. It will alleviate demand on existing boat launching facilities and improve access and safety for recreational boaters.

This project is underway with completion expected early-mid 2023. SMC’s scope of work includes:

  • A four-lane boat ramp;
  • 21 boat-pen marina with capacity to expand to 80 pens in the future, complete with services;
  • Nine navigation aids for the approach channel;
  • Public Fishing Jetty

Gun Co. Australia was engaged by SMC marine to handle all the precast elements of there project being fabricate at Dallcon Precast. Managing production/quality and compliance on there behalf our scope consisted of 120 Waffle Pattern Boat Ramp Modules in 8 varying custom designs to suit each of the four lanes intended use and load bearing requirements.

Our core rensponsibilities and services provided on this project were;

  1. Complete Pre & post pour checklists of each item along with photographic evidence.
  2. Review and release of hold points.
  3. Sign off on quality documentation including ITR and NCR.
  4. Undertake detailed inspection of all fabrication works at the Precast yard in Western Australia and produce daily reports/records of all activities.
  5. Verify that the fabrication works comply with the requirements of the SWTC and design and report non-conformances.
  6. Identify any deficiencies in the quality documentation.
  7. Review the compliance of all fabrication processes
  8. Review test results and maintain quality records, registers and trackers.
  9. Review and ensure that any non-conformances are properly addressed and closed out.
  10. Review and support Field Inspection Checklists.
  11. Education of the delivery teams on best practice and AAA Quality processes.
  12. Attendance, where required, at construction planning meetings and constructability reviews to advise on factors which could affect quality outcomes.
